HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL.

Kiamutuira is a mixed day secondary school, which was incepted in January 2014. The project was initiated by the Kiamutuira community through their industrious son, Honourable Joseph Gachoki Gitari.

The school admitted the first batch of fifty four (54) students in form one, the same year. The primary school headteacher Mr. Fredrick Thiaka Githinji, manned all the operations of the school at the time. To begin with, four teachers were hired on temporary basis and learning kicked off.

The first Principal, Mr. Nicholas K. Rwimbo, reported to the school on 16th May, 2014. The following year, the school received the first deputy principal Mrs. Nancy W. M. Ngechu. Moreover, the T.S.C continued to post more teachers to the school. The present number of teaching staff is nine (9) and six of them are under T.S.C. The student population has grown to two hundred and fourty( 240).

The first board of management, which is currently in office is chaired by Mr. Humphrey MainaChiuri. There is also a parents association, presided over by Mr. Stanley Muriithi Ruri.

The school is situated in Kirinyaga Central, Kirinyaga County, approximately one and a half (1 Km) off Kerugoya – Baricho road. The locality is serene thus offering a conducive teaching and learning environment. The school infrastructure consists of four modern classrooms, a modern spacious laboratory and a hall which is still under construction.

The contribution of the following leaders towards the developmental level of the school achieved so far, cannot be overestimated. They include:

a)         Honourable Joseph Gachoki  Gitari, M.P Kirinyaga Central constituency.

b)        Mr. Lawrence Muriuki  Kamanda, political aspirant, Kirinyaga central constituency.
